Carol's arts backgound began by training as a three-dimensional designer. She then studied Fine Art at the Chelsea School of Art (1976 to 1980), before progressing to the Sir John Cass School of Art (1987-1991). Carol returned to study in 2001 and in 2003 attained an MA (Land Art Images) from Sir John Cass.
Carol is experienced in producing work through a broad range of art mediums including; oils, pastels, watercolours, inks, drawing, printmaking and photography. She also facilitates art through group and workshop practice. In this role, she is particularly inspired by empowering people to explore their environment, interpret their experiences, and discover the wonder of imagination and creativity.

Fine Art
Carol's fine art work encompass a variety of media, including oil painting on canvas, and printmaking (including both etching and silkscreen). She has always attracted beyond the conventional, and her multi-compositional works might be described as collages, using ink, pastel, wax, combined with other 'mixed media' on fabric, paper and other surfaces.
Within fine art, Carol is perhaps best known for creating images by building up surfaces and construction using composite images with overlays. Experimentation is and has always been an important part of her creative process.
She is inspired chiefly by the inter-relationship of landscape and personal feeling. Colour is always a strong element to her work, and her sense of colour relations play a major part in herprocess of composition. As well as working and researching in her Bethnal Green studio, Carol works outdoors, taking her inspiration from nature and the environment. Carol is an enthusiastic practitioner of 'Land Art', and composes using both natural and manmade materials to create art 2d and 3d artwork and installations. When working for her MA, also she added a new dimension to this, by taking photographs of natural materials and manipulating these on the computer to create digital images. In recent years, Carol has turned her hand to jewellery making, using semi precious stones and other luxury materials. Carol also designs and produces hand-crafted jewellery. Each piece, whether commissioned for a cat walk fashion show or an international design company, is a unique statement valued by both individuals and private collectors.

Art Education
Carol has worked within art education for more than twenty five years. She has a wide breadth of experience, working with children of all ages, as well as with adult and family groups and of designing workshops to suit each of her client groups. She also has experience of building and running specialized therapeutic art workshops to facilitate support to people with mental health issues, special educational needs, and people with terminal illnesses. Through her workshops Carol aims to develop participant skill and creativity. Carol's workshop locations range from museums and galleries, such as Tate Britain and Geffrye Museum, to schools and private homes. Further information on Carols workshop skills may be seen HERE. Carol is able to undertake either role, as may be appropriate or preferred for a client group.

Interpretations may be distinctly educational and functional or may be purely decorative and aesthetic.
